Safety and Security

We at the York State Fair and Expo Center want every visitor to enjoy their experience. Please help us by following our policies and procedures to ensure everyone has a safe enjoyable visit!

Overview

Guests must refrain from conduct that is inconsistent with the fun and family atmosphere of the York State Fair and Expo Center. Such conduct includes but is not limited to: interfering with other guests’ ability to enjoy an event; using foul or abusive language or gestures; appearing to be in a drunken or diminished capacity; failure to produce a ticket on request or sitting in a seat which is not ticketed; possession of unauthorized items; moshing or crowd surfing; and interfering with an event. Violators are subject to ejection and possible arrest.

Searches

  • The York State Fair and Expo Center reserve the right to inspect and search all items and guests entering the Fairgrounds or any building on the property.
  • Additional security precautions and screening will occur during Grandstand concerts and various other events held upon the Fairgrounds. Guests should be prepared to have all hand-carried items open and ready for inspection. Hand-carried items include but are not limited to bags and purses that meet the size requirements.
  • By presenting your ticket and entering our venue you consent to such screenings. Persons who refuse to screen will be denied entry into our venues. These protective measures have been put in place to ensure that each performance or experience is occurring in a safe environment for our guests.
  • The York State Fair and Expo Center have implemented the use of walk-through and handheld magnetometers for all guests upon entry.
  • We recommend that guests arrive at least 45 minutes prior to event start time and bring only essential items into the venue.
  • No backpacks or coolers will be permitted.

Pets

  • Please leave pets at home, pets are not permitted on the Fairgrounds.
  • Do not leave them in your vehicle.
  • Emotional Support animals are not allowed on the Fairgrounds.
  • ONLY SERVICE animals as defined by the Americans with Disability Act are allowed on our facilities.

Prohibited Items

Not All Inside Grounds

  • Weapons of any kind or facsimiles of weapons including:
    • Firearms, pellet guns, stun guns, martial arts weapons, pepper spray, pocket/utility knives, or cutting instruments
  • Illegal drugs, substances, or items
  • Fireworks, pyrotechnics, flares, or incendiary devices
  • Glass or metal containers of any kind including:
    • Cans, bottles, and flasks
  • Alcoholic beverages, (sealed or not)
  • Oversized bags, backpacks, duffel bags, or diaper bags that exceed the size range of 16” x 16” x 8”.
  • Coolers or Cooler bags
  • Audio/Video recorders, professional cameras, tripods
  • 2-way radios
  • Laser pointers

Not Allowed Inside Grandstand

  • Signs, Flags, Banners
  • Flashlights
  • Umbrellas
  • Selfie Sticks
  • Coolers or Cooler Bags
  • Large Purses
  • Laser Pointers
  • Any Outside Food or Drinks
  • Chairs
  • Alcoholic beverages, (sealed or not)
  • Audio/Video recorders, professional cameras, tripods

Not Allowed Inside Grounds

  • Beach balls, projectiles, balloons, permanent markers, spray paint
  • Drones
  • Guests without shoes or shirts
  • Masks
  • Optical illusions
  • Jewelry that could be used as a weapon including chains and studded bracelets
  • Pets, other than service animals as defined by the ADA. Emotional support animals will not be permitted.
  • Segways, skateboards, rollerblades, hoverboards, bicycles, helmets, any type of portable seat, other than those approved and required for accessibility
  • Noisemakers, bullhorns, or air horns
  • Unapproved pamphlets, handouts, advertisements

IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING

The If You See Something, Say Something™ campaign encourages the public and frontline employees to identify and report any indication of a threat to the proper law enforcement authorities. To report suspicious activity, see your nearest police officer, security guard, staff member or local authority or call 911.
