Due to Veterinarian availability the 2026 York State Fair will be amending the Health Guidelines for Departments 09 & 11-09 Rabbits & Cavies:

IN-STATE RABBITS & CAVIES: We will be accepting a valid VCPR Forms OR a signed attestation form - that will be provided to exhibitors that do not provide a valid VCPR Form at Check-In.

OUT OF STATE RABBITS & CAVIES: Guidelines remain the same as listed in the 2026 York State Fair PPRC Catalog.

Animal Health Requirements

Pennsylvania Rabbits

Requirements:

  1. Pennsylvania rabbits must have verification of a veterinary-client-patient relationship. A current VCPR Form is required and must be issued after April 1st, 2026. The VCPR form that is on page 5 & 6 of the 2025 York State Fair PPRC Catalog must be used. OR Must Sign an attestation form at check in if a valid VCPR form is not provided.
  2. All animals must be free of evidence of infectious and contagious diseases.
  3. While on exhibit or at any time following exhibition, exhibitors and exhibition managers are obligated to report all mass mortality events and all rabbits who show signs of a dangerous transmissible disease to the Departments emergency line at 717-772-2852, option 1. Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease is of particular concern, and clinical signs include bleeding from eyes, nose, mouth, or have bloody stools.

Out of State Rabbits

Requirements:

  1. Rabbits originating from a Commonwealth, State, Territory or Country identified as being affected by RHD within the 12 months prior to the start of exhibition: NO RABBITS or their products and no equipment, exposed feed, forages, or other items may enter the Commonwealth of PA from a Commonwealth, State, Territory, or Country where RHD has been diagnosed in the prior 12 months or there is a reasonable suspicion it exists unless they meet the following requirements:
    1. All live rabbits must be accompanied by a CVI and must be examined by an accredited veterinarian within the 72 hours prior to the date of shipment to PA. The CVI must include statements by an accredited veterinarian certifying that:

i.All rabbits in the shipment have been examined for and found free of infectious, contagious or communicable diseases;

ii.All rabbits have originated from a single premises that has no signs of infectious, contagious or communicable disease in rabbits;

iii.There have been no movements of rabbits onto the premises of origin within the 90 days prior to the date of shipment; and

iv.The rabbits have had no contact with wild or captive rabbits other than their cohorts in the 90 days prior to the date of shipment.

  1. No rabbits or their products, no equipment, exposed feed, or conveyances, or other items, or associated materials may enter the Commonwealth of PA from a premises exposed to, contaminated with or known to be affected with RHD, or where there is a reasonable suspicion the disease exists or the rabbits have been exposed to or infected with RHD.
