The 2022 York State Fair Outstanding Youth Award recipient is Katie Houser from Thomasville, PA.
Katie Houser graduated from Spring Grove Area High School in 2022. While in high school she participated in many in-school and out-of-school activities and organizations which include the York County 4-H Swine Club, Kiddin Around 4-H Goat Club, and the 4-H Senior Exchange Club as well as the Spring Grove Future Farmers Club. Throughout her 4-H career she has received her Green, White, Bronze, and Silver Clover Awards.
Katie has held many offices in the 4-H and the Future Farmers Club, from Treasurer, Secretary, Vice-President, and President. As well as being a 4-H Camp Counselor at numerous different County and Regional Camps.
At the York State Fair, Katie’s face is definitely familiar here in the Weis Markets Arena, as over the years she has shown Market Goats, Market Swine, Meat Breeding Goats, and Breeding Swine. But it doesn’t stop there, you will always see Katie interacting with all the species and being a leader for the next generation of 4-H and FFA Members.
Katie will be attending Duquesne University this fall to receive a bachelor’s degree in Nursing to be a Registered Nurse. As Katie wrote, “Although my end goal is to become a nurse, my intuitive goal is to leave a lasting positive impression on my patients, my community, and those I will work beside.” Well, Katie we wish you all the best as you have left a long lasting positive impression on the York State Fair community!
